Director of Media


This position is accountable to define, lead and execute the media marketing strategies for B2B, B2C and B2E for our growing franchise clients. This cross functional leader will bring subject matter expertise and collaborate closely with our client services, creative operations, finance, and creative teams to drive business results. This role is a key member of the Hot Dish leadership team, reports to the president of the agency and must demonstrate the HDA core values in everything that they do.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Strategic Vision

  • Accountable for the development, oversight and effective execution of media and measurement strategies to align with and support the business and growth of the agency and clients.
  • Architect and own the strategic roadmap for the department and use of media channels for executing client campaigns to drive business results.
  • Provide direction and oversight of reporting and analysis of our client campaigns to effectively showcase the results and data points to drive incremental opportunities.
  • Leverage media expertise in conjunction with Hot Dish processes to develop timely, creative, and appropriate strategic plans in concert with cross functional teams.
  • Actively listen to understand client needs and ensure the team is activated to achieve client goals.
  • Support digital and traditional media strategies that are aligned with creative with the goal to bring forth opportunities where the two teams are working together to drive incremental impact.
  • Ensure that campaigns and media buys are within budget and achieve KPIs.

Staff Leadership

  • Hire, develop and empower a high-performing team of client centric, goal driven digital strategists, digital operations, lead gen, paid media, SEO/content strategy and analytics/reporting.
  • Provide clear and timely goal setting, coaching, feedback and mentoring to the media team and cross functionally as needed and to inspire excellence.
  • Develop, maintain and grow partnerships with key data providers and media execution partners by facilitating their understanding of our client connection and growth strategy.
  • Ensure time tracking and project management protocols are followed working towards an 75% utilization rate of your team.
  • Lead by example in terms of team behaviors, process improvement, and timely responsiveness.

Agency Leadership

  • Participate fully as a member of the leadership team. Provide proactive strategies and solutions to agency challenges and effectively activate change for the greater good of the agency to solve for challenges at hand.
  • Champion the EOS process to achieve traction within the agency. Lead L10 meeting with team and ensure that identified issues are solved and Rocks are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Proactively collaborate with the Client Services team to develop plans, identify the right mix between digital platforms, translate target audiences/personas into buying realities, and execute cross-platform solutions to reach them.
  • Provide SME leadership and consultation to support new business initiatives.
  • Manage contracts and relationships of third-party partners as needed to support the business and to ensure an effective investment.
  • Manage media performance, analysis and optimization to deliver effective client results and value added solutions.
  • Bring new technologies or martech to market including both the development of innovative products, as well as the digital transformation required to ensure a successful execution.
  • Oversight of day-to-day budget management and pacing for agency accounts.
  • Miscellaneous projects as assigned to support the agency as needed to meet or exceed client expectations.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business, Marketing, Technology or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years management experience in B2C and B2B media and marketing campaigns.
  • Must have managed a team of 8 or more individuals; Proven track record of building a strong team to scale and grow the business as needed.
  • Franchise experience is a plus.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 years’ hands-on experience in programmatic display advertising, SEM, paid social and performance media analytics. Experienced in cross-channel media planning and execution.
  • Fluency/mastery of Web Ops, Digital and Social Advertising, SEO strategy, DSP platforms, Traditional media planning and buying, Dashboard Reporting attribution strategy and tools, UX/UI, CRO (conversion rate optimization), Lead Gen, Branding, Vendor Negotiation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong presentation abilities
  • Proven ability to be proactive, responsive and to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft product suite, including Excel.

  • This position is a remote working situation with the ability to meet in person on a quarterly or as needed basis
  • This position requires an internet connection that’s sufficient for completing the job remotely and involves sitting at a computer for several hours at a time.
  • Proficiency in the use of keyboard / mouse and video meetings
  • Ability to see and hear in virtual meetings
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
